For the Squares: Improvidence is Brown University’s oldest improv comedy student group. We perform about twice a month during the academic year to large, very energetic audiences from across the university. Aside from our own shows, Improvidence is also available for other events.
For the Circles: We’re an improv troupe based out of Providence, Rhode Island made of Brown and RISD students. Imagine, if you can, taking a theatrical production, cutting it to about half the length, removing costumes, props, scripts, and the theatrical experience of the cast. It would be piss-poor, but that’s the only way in which it ISN’T like Improvidence. Get it? Shows are generally an hour, and boisterous—come ready to yell loudly. Auditions are usually held once a year in the first few weeks of school, but y’know, we play it by ear. That’s probably a good phrase to keep in mind about the whole IMPROVidence thing, actually.
